Day 1: Ugh...So White and Giddy....

So I'm Gonna Talk about the various elements in Mirror's Edge but first off Let's get you up to speed on what is Mirror's Edge!
Mirror's Edge is published by EA(DICE).
It's a First Person Platforming Action-Adventure set in a future Utopian City where everything is comfortable and crime is non-existent. You Play Faith, A Runner. Runner's are information Messengers, they deliver info for clients as in this city,Everything is controlled and Watched from the internet to TV. So to have some Privacy, they hire Runners to deliver info for them so that the Government does not know about it.
The Story follows Faith's Investigation into a Case after her sister is kidnapped for her involvement in that case.

So Today I'm gonna talk about the Visual Elements of Mirror's Edge.
Firstly, the 1st Person Perspective.
1st Person Perspective is when the reader/viewer is placed in the perspective of a character or simply YOU are the Character and you see what they see. This is the case in 1st person games like FPS as the player plays from the character's point of view.In books, Author's use this perspective to allow the reader to connect to the story as if they are in the story themselves, further dragging the reader into the story's universe. But as this game is a mostly a Platformer, the usual perspective is from a third person view as platforming requires precision and awareness as the most common way to lose is to jump at the wrong spot and Fall into a Bottomless pit...
But this game doesn't follow that and instead uses 1st person perspective! Why you ask? Like I said above, the 1st person perspective has the player get more involved with the story. Thus its mostly motivated by the story but also another layer of difficulty as you don't have the awarness of what's coming ahead. Also as the gameplay is inspired by Parkour and free running, players are able to experience what is like to parkour and such as we see the world from the 1st person's perspective too.

Secondly, The Reticle, I know this game is NOT a FPS despite having a reticle in the middle of the screen. The Reticle in the screen is a safety measure as without it, you will get headaches, motion sickness from it as unlike FPS, its much faster than an FPS in terms of movement of the character as Faith has to Run a lot. So the reticle is a point where you're eyes can fix open so that you won't vomit out your lunch!

Lastly,No HUDs,This game doesn't really require a HUD(Head's Up Display) as due to a certain element I will talk about in another post which makes it useless. Another reason they did not put a HUD is that it removes the player from the Universe as in Real Life you don't have HUDs in your eyes or in your brain as a matter of fact.
